Octavia Goldwire-Harrison

07-21-1980 - 02-01-2024

Biography:

Octavia M. P. Goldwire-Harrison, MSN, RN, was born on July 21, 1980, in New York, New York, to the late Paul Thomas Goldwire, Sr. and Debra Ann Goldwire.

Octavia was raised in a God-fearing home and received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior while attending Paradise Baptist Church in New York, New York. After graduating from high school, she went on to earn her Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Masters of Nursing Degrees. Octavia was a licensed registered nurse in Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York.

In 2005, while attending St. Luke Baptist Church, Octavia met the love of her life, Ahmad K. Harrison [Trent}, and on January 15, 2006, they were joined together in holy matrimony by the late Rev. Dr. J.G. McCann, Sr. Through this union, one son was born, and she gained a bonus son. Octavia loved her two sons and did her best to instill in them the value of education, living a Christ–like life, and the importance of service to others.

Octavia was a devoted servant with the voice of an Angel. She used her gift to minister the gospel to various people throughout the United States. She was a faithful member of St. Luke Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Shane Hilliard until her transition. Octavia was a true philanthropist with a deep passion for service to others, especially the seasoned saints [seniors]. In fact, in 2020, she received the “Servant’s Heart” Award from Union Grove Baptist Church for her assistance to serving others during the pandemic.

Octavia spent over 20 years working as a Nurse in New York City, until her full retirement in 2023, so she could focus more on her non-profit, ministry and missionary work. Octavia credits her love for nursing to her grandmother, Lucille Goldwire, “the real nurse,” and her passion for service to her mother, Rev. Debra Ann Goldwire, “the prayer warrior.”

To know Octavia was to love her.  She will always be remembered for her bright smile, infectious laugh, and favorite quote “You can’t make this stuff up.”  She was a classy “Church Diva”, with a big heart, that lived a life of servitude. A true Humanitarian!  She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
