Biography: Shirley Lalande, a devoted mother, grandmother passed away peacefully on July, 14, 2025.

Born in Georgia on October 4th 1946 to Emma and Eugene Lowe. Shirley will be remembered for her warmth, strength and generosity. She dedicated her life to her family, always lending a helping hand when needed.

Shirley accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Mt. Bethel Baptist Church where her father was an Associate Minister, and her mother was a Deaconess.  She was a devoted and faithful member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church for over 50 years.

At our 116th Street location, Shirley was the Financial Secretary, the Church Clerk and a member of the Number 2 Choir. Her faith in God was an important part of her everyday life. At our current location, Shirley served diligently as the Chairperson of the MBBC Women’s Ministry for many years.  She also served as the Assistant Financial Secretary, the Church Secretary, a Trustee on the Executive Board and a member of the Health & Wellness Ministry.  Her exemplary commitment to the MBBC Ministry will never be forgotten.

Shirley Lalande is survived by her son Eric Lalande, her grandson Eric Lalande Jr. her daughter in law Carmen Lalande, her dearest friend Elise Spencer and numerous family members and friends.
