Biography: Curtis Lee Barber, lovingly known as" Curt", was born December 2, 1945, in Bayboro, North Carolina to the late Thomas and Elnora Barber.
 
He received his early education in Bayboro, North Carolina School District. He later joined the United States Air Force in 1965 and served in the technology field while on active duty until 1968.  Curtis provided on ground technical support to his unit in which he was highly noted for. He obtained numerous computer software and fiber optic certifications after being discharged from serving in the Air Force. 
 
On April 3, 1972, he was united in holy matrimony to Doris Barber in New York City. Four children were born to this union. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "Big jobs usually go to the men who prove their ability to outgrow small ones." Curtis has proven himself as one who held true to this proverb while working numerous jobs to support his family. He worked for Cadence Industries as a Control Clerk, Hertzfeld & Stern Inc. as a Lead Computer Operator, Baruch College as a Computer Associate, and lastly City College of New York as Director of Computer Information Systems until retiring in 2008. Curtis was also an entrepreneur and owned 3 successful businesses within the tri state area. 
 
Curtis loved to read, and you would always find him with some sort reading material in his hand, in addition to watching his favorite sport of all football. 
 
Curtis departed this life to take his eternal rest on September 20, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Elnora Barber and his sister Lillie Barber.
 
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years Doris Barber, Children: William Duff, Maketa Barber, Tiwundi Barber and Teshia
Barber. Grandchildren: Natassia Duff, Tyana Hutchinson, Janaya Hargett, TayQuan Barber, Tyshaun Barber, Tamia Barber, Chloe Barber and Soriyah Sapp. Siblings: Thomas Barber Jr. (Susan Barber), Betty Barber-Northern (Frank Northern), Carol Barber-McKeithen, Tyrone Barber (Sandy Barber), and Claudette Barber-Credle, and a host of nieces and nephews.
 
God saw the road was getting rough, the hills were hard to climb, He gently closed those loving eyes, and whispered, "Peace be thine." The weary hours, the days of pain, the sleepless nights are passed. The ever patient, worn out frame, has found sweet rest at last.
