Lazanda Terry Felton Gray

12-04-1960 - 07-15-2019

Biography: Lazanda Terry Felton Gray, affectionately known as “Pimp”, was born on December 4, 1960 in the Bronx, New York to Mary Gray and Douglas Gray. He was the second oldest out of six children. Terry attended Public School 104 and JHS 82. Thereafter, he completed his high school education at Taft.

After high school Terry attended Job Corp and obtained a trade in HVAC. He was employed by Saks Fith Avenue where he was promoted to Manager. Thereafter, he continued his career in multiple jobs with the last being at Lehman College.

During his childhood he was baptized and was a long time member of Mt. Cella Baptist Church. He also sang in the church choir, where he loved to sing. He also loved to dance, travel, play cards, watch basketball and football, as well as party and drink his “Budweiser” lol.

Anybody that knew Pimp knew he was quite the comedian. You always knew you were going to get a good laugh if he was around. He would have you laughing so hard your stomach would hurt and your eyes would be full of tears lol. He walked in a room and immediately things changed. He was the life of the party with that great smile and big sense of humor! He touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with.

Terry, aka “Pimp”, was loved by everyone. He will surely be missed. Growing up as a teenager he was a lively and energetic young man, he was outspoken, spontaneous and funny. His family knew how much he LOVED to walk, play cards, spend family time and travel. While we were young, he was always the jokester. All of his siblings agreed that he missed his calling “he should have been a comedian.”

Twenty-five years ago he met and married the love of his life, Stephanie Felton. During that union, two families were united, his son Terry Felton, Jr. and her daughter Shneika Verner. Terry was a loving husband, devoted father, devoted son and loving brother. He loved spending time with his family. His family was his life. He was a proud father. When his son was born everywhere you saw Pimp you saw T.J., even walking the streets of Bronx and Harlem with T.J. on his shoulders.

Terry and Stephanie made the decision to relocate Charlotte, North Carolina. He sustained an injury, which followed a lengthy illness to include hospice care.

Terry departed his life at his home July 15, 2019. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Stephanie Felton of Charlotte, North Carolina; two children: Terry Felton Jr. and Shneika Verner; five grandchildren: Elijah Cora, Terry Amyas Felton, Justice Felton, Janovia Felton and Eliia Jenkins; his mother, Mary Gray; two brothers: Samuel Felton Sr., Lloyd Gray Jr.; four sisters: Brenda Dalton (Butch), Sherrie Gray Coleman, Valerie Gray and Yvette Gray; one sister-in-law, Stacey Junior Brown (Richard); one godmother: Jackie Agers, one godbrother: Jason Thompson; one goddaughter, Kanaya Morales; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
