Biography: Aisha Jazilyn Hicks, affectionately know as “Ish”, was born on a snowy day, in New York City on November 19, 1976. She was blessed to have three loving parents Deborah Jenkins, Earl Davis and Jerry Jenkins. She grew up in different parts of the world from New York to Virginia to St. Louis and even Japan. Through her travels, and despite her petite size, Ish was larger than life. She had a great sense of humor and was a hilarious, story teller. You could often find her telling jokes and laughing right in the middle of them. She had a laugh that was loud and contagious which caught the heart of many. Her infectious persona made her very popular, developing friendships all over the country.
Ish graduated from Kadena high school in Okinawa, Japan in 1995. There she met her former husband, Kevin Hicks. After graduation she decided to pursue a career in the military. Ish served in both, the United States Air Force and the Army National Guard. After years of service, she was honorably discharged and began a career that aligned with her skill for connecting with people and creating delicious meals.
Ish went into the food industry where she excelled and did everything from guest interaction to cheffing in the kitchen. As a “foodie” she loved to feed people as her act of love and service. She even had a brief business called, "Eats by Ish” where she prepared and cooked breakfast meals. Each meal contained a handwritten personalized note to brighten each customers day.
Aisha’s compassion, huge heart and desire to help others shined through in all that she did. She was always willing to share a kind word, joke or meal with anyone in need.
Ish is preceeded in death by her Grandmother Sarah. Her living Grandmother is June ish is survived by her 5 children, Kevin Jr., Lyric, Jaden, Brielle and Ayanna. She has a grandson Luca and she is expecting another grandchild this Winter. Also, her 4 siblings; sister Ebony and brothers Jamaal, Dion and Earl Jr. She is an Auntie to her only niece, Kamara. Ish is a Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Granddaughter, Aunt, Niece, sister, Cousin and friend. She is loved by many and will truly be missed .
