Biography: On December 23, 2019, our beloved Leon Richard Williams was called home to glory. Leon was born on November 24th, 1938 in
Charleston, South Carolina to the late Leon and Florence Williams.
Leon came to New York in 1945 and lived in Harlem throughout his life. He attended Seward High School. In 1959 he became a proud dad of his two sons Derek and David. In 1966 he married his love Jessie Ann Resse with whom he shared three children. Leon worked very hard on the jobs he had, but his true passion was always fixing cars.
Leon was always a loving and devoted father, husband, son and brother. He would give his all to help out anyone in need; no matter what the call was, he always answered. Leon was our father, but to his loving family he will always be known and remembered as “Uncle Richie”.
He is survived by his wife Ann, his five children: Leon, Derek, Rhonda, Sean, David. Seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Diane; sister Shirley Goodwin and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Leon joins his siblings who were called to glory: Bernice Long, Cleo Garrett, Gladys Choice, Herman Williams; brothers-in-law: Oscar Goodwin, Arthur Choice and Allen Garrett Sr., all of whom have been called home to glory.
