Biography: Robert Lee Junior, affectionately known as “Joe”, was born on January 29, 1938 in Allendale, South Carolina to Reverend Arthur Junior and Emma Junior. He was the fifth of nine children. Robert attended St. Mary School in Allendale. On  November 7, 2019 at 7:06PM, Robert passed away peacefully in his home.
 
After the passing of his mother, Robert’s father raised him and his four siblings. Joe became quite the farmer, growing watermelon and sugar cane.
 
In his early 20’s, he relocated to Harlem, New York where he met and dated Martha Wilson. They enjoyed going to wrestling matches and the world - famous Apollo Theatre. On March 15, 1959 they were united in holy matrimony and from this union Stephanie and Stacy were born.
 
Robert was employed and retired after 30 years of service from the
Kennedy Parking Garage. There is where he developed a love of
Cadillacs, purchasing a new one every four years from Dick Gidron’s Dealership.
 
Joe was known for telling jokes, bringing laughter to all he encountered. His favorite past times were he and Stacy bike riding up Webster Ave to White Castles, attending baseball games with his nephew Al Junior and going to Atlantic City. His most treasured activity was when he and the family taking road trips to South Carolina for Christmas in his Cadillac. Every Sunday morning Joe loved to listen to the Mighty Clouds of Joy singing “Bright Side”.
 
Joe was a Man of his Community. Everyone knew him from Webster Ave., Concourse Village and 161st Street. He was an active and vocal member of the Truth and Action Committee at Concourse Village,
always having an opinion whether right or wrong.
 
Martha Wilson Junior, his devoted wife of 52 years, his brothers Theo Junior, Frank Junior, sisters, Willamina, Peggy Bing, Irene Junior, and Carrie Lee Junior all preceded him in death.
 
Joe leaves to cherish his memories: His daughters Stephanie Junior Felton (Charlotte, North Carolina), Stacy Junior (Bronx, New York), granddaughter Shneika Verner (Atlanta, Georgia.), grandsons Richard E. Brown III (Bronx, New York), Terry Felton (Bronx, New York) and great granddaughter Eliia M. Jenkins (Atlanta, Georgia), brothers Leroy Junior (Queens, New York), Westly Junior (Miami, Florida.), sister Juanita Martin (James) (Sumter, South Carolina), special aunt Tomasina Chess (Allendale, South Carolina), two brothers-in-law, Hurl Nesmith (Nesmith, South Carolina), Eddie Nesmith (Columbia, South Carolina), one sister-in-law, Helen Pressley (Jersey City, New Jersey), and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, family, friends and community.
