Biography: On November 1st, 2019 Norman Lee Smallwood Sr, son to the late Bat and Bernice Smallwood departed from the cares of this world to be with the Lord. Preceding him in death are his wife Ethel Smallwood and grandsons Reginald Jerome Davis and Kevin McPhaul and son in law Clifton Fine.

Norman was born on January 15, 1942 in ( Windsor N.C) . During his early years he was educated in the public school system of Windsor where he attended W.S Etherige High School where he At the age of 18 he moved to Harlem New York City to pursue his love in the retail industry working as a jeweler. He began working with Nomo Product in Manhattan New York for 30 years in management. Even in his work environment, Norman had a loveable nature and enjoyed making people laugh. With his festive personality Norman quickly blossomed as a neighborhood favorite surrounded by numerous friends and confidants where he enjoyed playing basketball and watching both football and baseball relentlessly.

After transitioning to New York City, Norman married the late Ethel Smallwood, and from this union five children were born—Renee, Norman Jr, Thomas, Anthony, and Chris. Norman was a fun-loving father who lived his life to the fullest and cherished his family. Although living hundreds of miles away from his birth place, he returned often to visit his siblings and long-time friends remaining in North Carolina. In fact: He made sure all those he loved felt protected at all times. If he made your acquaintance, you were a friend for life.

For Norman; he never met a stranger. He truly had a heart of gold and touched the lives of many. He will be remembered for his infectious smile and remarkable way that he shared and gave love to others.
 
Norman leaves to cherish his memory his five children, Renee Davis ( Reginald), Norman Smallwood Jr, Thomas Smallwood, Anthony Smallwood ( Tressa), and Eric Smallwood. Four sisters, Lillie Fine, Agnes Smallwood, Unie Cary (Earl), and Vilda Mebane ( Melvin). Three brothers: Robert Lewis Smallwood (Dorothy), James Smallwood, Walter Bond (Doris). Grandchildren: Jasmine Bell, Iman Smallwood, Bailey Smallwood; Norman was loved by a host of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and many other devoted relatives and friends.
