Biography: Lillie Mae Reed was born to Mattie Belton and Mr. Moses in Charlotte, North Carolina on May 14, 1933. She was the first child born to the couple followed by twelve siblings - five of which preceded her in death.
Lillie came to New York at the age of fourteen and maintained a job as a housekeeper. She later met and married the love of her life Mr. Solomon King Reed, in 1951. They were married for thirty-eight years until King's unfortunate passing in 1989. Six beautiful children came from their union: Solomon Reed Jr., James Reed (deceased), Clarence Reed (deceased), Mary Ella Reed, Lee Edward Reed (deceased), and Vivian Reed.
Lillie loved to cook and listen to Gospel music. Most of all, she loved to spend quality time with her family. She was the matriarch and considered the nucleus of her family.
Lillie was a special woman. She always wore a crown of patience and consistently displayed acts of kindness to everyone. Her strength was unequal and will be hard to match. She touched many lives and was loved dearly by all. She was God-fearing, a peacemaker, and full of love. She will be missed.
