Eulogy

Clyde Jeffrey JAavois

So suave, so debonair.  Such a global citizen.  A mentor, a devoted son dedicated to his family , exemplary brother, extraordinary friend.

Robertine and Raymond Javois brought him into this world on 7 March 1974 on the   island of St. Croix but home is where the heart is and Clyde grew up in St. Martin (on the French side….he always made that very clear ).  He graced us with his presence until 3 October 2019, when after a valiant and brave battle against cancer, God called him home.

His professional accomplishments were many;  his dedication in the area of education management was unparalleled.  From his days at Queens College as a Special Assistant to his time as the  Director of Admissions at the French American School of NY to co-foundership of the Ecole Internationale de New York to his position with the UCCG International Schools in China and founding his own consulting firm, there was no task that could not be handled, managed and achieved courtesy of his visionary talents, planning  and organizational excellence.

His own educational background may have been what planted the seeds for what would later be a lifetime of international travel.  Schooled in Guadaloupe, Martinique, then on to Paris and London whilst still in his formative years ultimately garnering a Master’s     Degree from the University des Antilles et de la Guyane in English Language and        Literature, he personified that which he preached; education is the key to future success.

And successful he was!  Be it tinkling the ivories of a piano keyboard or traveling the globe to so many countries too numerous to mention here or making the best tomato quiche one has ever tasted (and yes, only he knew all the ingredients!!) , there was     nothing our Clyde could not do once he set his mind to it.

We can not celebrate Clyde without mentioning family.  Family was everything to him.  He always put the needs of his family before his own.  He spoke with incredible pride of his relatives accomplishments from nieces to nephews to cousins and others.  He never took credit for the fact that it was perhaps his life of leading by example and unwavering support for the “young ones” that allowed them to pursue and accomplish their dreams and goals.
