Biography: Reflections of Life
Joseph Andre Stanley Chalvire, the son of Mr. Raymond and Emilie Chalvire, was born on January 13th, 1953 in Cap-Haitien, Haiti. His family migrated to the United States in 1967 and settled in New York City. On November 22, 2013, Stanley became a citizen of the United States of America. He departed this life on September 30th, 2019 at Mount Sinai West hospital in New York City.
First and foremost, Stanley was a loving father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was a genuine, caring, and kind soul, who brought joy and laughter to every conversation; and always had an encouraging word to share for those in need. His favorite pastime was reminiscing about the past, telling countless stories about the “good old days” with family and friends. He enjoyed going outside for leisure walks around his neighborhood, greeting every person he passed with salutations and a smile. He also enjoyed sitting downstairs in his apartment building lobby, chatting with all his neighbors about current events.
Stanley graduated from Brandeis High School in New York City. He had a lifelong career working in retail as a sales associate, before retiring as a store manager for Genesco Corporation at the Newport Mall in Jersey City, NJ. Stanley was a member of Holy Name of Jesus – St. Gregory the Great Parish for many years, where he would faithfully attend weekly mass service.
Words cannot express how much Stanley will be missed. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Mr. Raymond and Emilie Chalvire; his aunt, Emma Dejoie; and his goddaughter, Sherese Young. He leaves to mourn his Loving memory: his daughter, Fallon Chalvire (Harrison, NJ); his sisters, Edwidge Harding (Garnerville, NY), Daniela Verne (Miami, FL), Astrid Chalvire Hidalgo (NJ) and Ingrid Correa (NJ); his first love, Evone Chalvire (Maplewood, NJ) and four sister-in-laws (Godwin family); his godson, Asheley Michel (Bound Brook, NJ); his two goddaughters, Imani Dupree (Monroe, NJ) and Tasha Louis (New York City); and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
