Biography: Barbara Ann White was born on April 28, 1931 in Washington D.C. to her loving mother Alice. Her mother, Alice relocated to Chicago where she finished high school, met and married Joseph R. Smith.
Barbara Ann Smith aka Bobbie had six children: Michael, Duane, Jacquelyn, Donna and Erik who preceded her in death and, the youngest son Quintin. In 1953 the family moved to DC where she worked for the Federal Government. In 1960 she moved to NY and began work as a secretary for the National Council of Churches. Then she worked for Mount Sinai Hospital for thirty-two years where she retired in 1995.
Bobbie leaves to mourn her children: Michael (wife Lavern), Duane, (wife Eleanor), Jacquelyn, Donna and Quintin (wife Lisa). Her grandchildren include: Christopher, Anthony, Eric, Damon, Gavin, Stephany, Ron, Emanuel, and Quintashia. There is also a host of great and great-great grandchildren.
Her friends and remaining family members are too numerous to name however, the family would like to acknowledge the following: Cousins John and Marion Palmer, Freddie Allen, Inell Stoudymire, Pearl, Robert Gilmore, Jarrod and Pepe.
Because of their care and assistance during Bobbie’s final transition we would like to thank Hospice of New York including: Tyisha Herrera (RN), Nurse Kathy and her aide Roseanna and finally her faithful caregiver Jeanetta Pemberton who also cared for our Nana.
Bobbie will be deeply missed and her memory will forever be in our hearts.
