07-28-1935 - 06-17-2019

Biography: Josiah Hutton loving known as “Joe” was born in Gainesville, Alabama on July 28, 1935 to the late Mr. Alonzo Hutton & Mary Windom-Hutton. He was the eighth child of twelve children. He departed this life on Monday, June 17, 2019.
Joe grew up in Gainesville and attended public school there. He relocated to New York City in 1956. He attended Southern Baptist Church located in E. Elmhurst, NY where his brother Rev. Walter Hutton is the Pastor Emeritus.

Joe met Ms. Fannie Taylor and was blessed with a son Anthony (Tony) and a daughter, Theresa. He later met & married Mazzie Lee Gary and raised her daughter, Barbara. Joe learned to fish and hunt wild game before leaving Alabama and found a way to do it in upstate New York, sometimes taking his son Tony along. He loved cooking his catch and sharing it with family and friends. His specialty dish was any kind of pot of greens that would make you pat your feet!

Joe was employed at a metal sorting company along with some of his brothers. One day he was sent to another job in Brooklyn, NY with a letter of recommendation. When Joe walked into the office the manager immediately said to him “We’re not hiring”, but decided to read the letter anyway and promptly said “You can start tomorrow”.  Joe worked on that job until he retired!

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Alonzo, Sr. &  Mary Hutton, his oldest sister Georgia, his brother’s  Elder JT Hutton, Alonzo Hutton Jr., Charles Hutton, James Hutton & Jessie Hutton, his wife Mazzie and daughter, Theresa. He leaves to cherish his memory his son Tony, daughter Barbara, his brother Rev. Walter Hutton (Lucille), four sisters, Bessie Bell, Sadie McNeil, Elsie Jacobs (Donnie), Sylvia Cain (Robert), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
