Lola Vinson was received into the loving hands of our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 4, 2020. She was born to the union of James Shepard and Irene Moore in West Virginia on November 14, 1941, where she was raised and the attended the West Virginia public school system. Lola graduated in 1959 from Aracoma High School in Logan County, West Virginia. Upon graduation Lola moved and settled in New York City, shorty after arriving in New York Lola professed her faith in God.
In 1984 Lola met her late husband John Vinson, and they were wedded three years later. Lola loved to cook and read books. Lola was a true giver throughout her life, and she touched many hearts both near and far. She gave to those in need and charities like Saint Johns for Leukemia. Lola loved her family, neighbors and her Church family at Saint Stephon Community AME Church which she joined in 2000.
Lola retired from the Bureau of Vital Records in 2007.
Lola was preceded in death by her parents James Sheppard and Irene Moore, and her late husband John Vinson. She leaves behind three sons, Tarzel Cameron-Vinson, daughter-in-law Doretha Cameron, son Terence Vinson, daughter Sheila Vinson, son Emmanuel Cameron-Vinson and fiancé Debroha Santiago, and her loving partner Donnie Diggs (a/k/a Ray), and a host of cousins, grand cousins, and great grand cousins.
