Biography: Mildred Nartettey was born Mildred Riley on December 18, 1944 in Manning, South Carolina, to the late Harvey Riley, Sr and Essie Mae Walker. Mildred was the third youngest of eight children. Deceased Joe Walker, Johnie Lee Walker, Albertus Riley, Diane Lee, James Riley, (Elizabeth) Riley and Ida Brown. She earned her formal education in the public schools of Clarence County, SC and received her High School Diploma and certifications. She worked Administrator positions and retired from Chase Green Company doing Administrative work in 2008. In her early life she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined Rock Hill Baptist Church. She joined Central Baptist Church under the leadership of the late pastor and founder Rev. Robert L. Owens in 1985. Pastor Owens was summoned by God to enter into his rest. Sis Mildred continued to faithfully and happily serve under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Lenora Crump-Owens. She was a delightful and integral part of the church family. Sis. Mildred, as she was affectionately called by Pastor Owens, served in many capacities in the church. Always willingly and with a smile. She was President of the Senior Usher Board President of Senior Choir, and she served faithfully as a Deaconess. In addition, Mildred was a member of the Missionary Board. Recently, she served as acting secretary for the church. She loved the songs "I want Jesus to Walk with Me" and "Amazing Grace." Mildred was a loving, dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Family's importance to her and was demonstrated in word and in action. She was a person whose warm smile won her a place in the hearts of those privileged to know her. She had a word of comfort for whom ever needed it. She was a beautiful soul. With the greatest gratitude to God for her life, Mildred is cherished and remembered by three devoted daughters: Dr. Cheryl Riley, PhD of Newark, NJ, Jacqueline Malloy (Linwood) of Bronx, NY, and Cynthia Riley-Hopkins of Bronx, NY; one sister Diane Lee of Manning, SC; one son: Joseph Spencer of New York, NY; an extended daughter/niece: Shakia Brown of Patterson, NJ; a spiritual Goddaughter: Edith Jones of Clearwater, FL, thirteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and many friends: Linda Lawson, Fannie Howell and Gusse Simon.
