Biography: Obituary
Emma Davis passed away at the age 104 years old on Monday, October 12, 2020 in the Bronx Gardens Nursing Home.
Emma Davis was born in Greenville, South Carolina on July 30, 1916 to William and Rose McBee. She outlived eight of her brothers. Emma was educated in the Greenville, South Carolina School System where she graduated from Sterling High School.
In the early 20’s she relocated to New York and met her husband James A. Davis (preceded in death) who was a Veteran in World War II. She was employed for many years for The Board of Education in the Dietary Department.
Emma Davis joined the Goodwill Baptist Church where was a longtime member and the oldest member in age. She served faithfully in the Missionary Ministry and Senior Ministry. She received several Citations by Bronx Borough President, Ruben Diaz Jr. honoring Centurions of the Bronx -100 years old July 2016 and 104 years old July 2020. She also received a Citation from Councilman Richie Torres- 102 years old in 2018.
Emma raised and love her niece Ethel Milton as an infant.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Ethel and Teddy Milton; Grandchildren Lawrence and Tynisha; Great grandchildren Shakeima, Shakim, Shakeal, Alexis, and Gerale; Great Great grandchildren Sky and Laila; Nephews: Perry, Ricky, Ronald, Barry, Christopher, Hason and a host of loved one, friends and neighbor.
