Arlene R. Tuff was born in New York City’s Harlem Hospital on October 13th, 1927. She was the daughter to Grefeld
Marshall and Mae White and the first of five children.
Arlene attended P.S. 90 in Harlem, Junior High School 136 and Seward High School. She graduated from Queens
College with a Bachelors Degree in Education.
Arlene met James Tuff and was joined in holy matrimony on June 29th, 1947. There were five children born to this union Harry “Ricky”, James “Artie”, Janice, Alan and Eugene. Arlene was employed by the Board of Education where she held many positions. She then left the board of Education and worked for New York City Department of Health, she was very active with their union, Local 768. She also was involved with AARP and she was the secretary for The African American Day Parade and many other civic organizations. Arlene loved to cruise, cruise and cruise some more! She will be missed by many.
She is survived by four children, Rickie, Artie, Janice and Eugene, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
