Biography: Victor Chesterfield Forde was born on March 28th at Bayland, St. Michael, Barbados, to parents Sarah Forde and Harold Rock. During this period probably caused much anxiety for his mother because it was the start of World War Two.
Victor was educated at St. Matthias Boys School in Barbados and upon leaving school he held several jobs, one of which was working for Hanschell Larsen, a company which dealt with exporting liquor. He was involved with preparing liquors for tourists leaving the island.
Upon leaving Hanschell Larsen, Victor worked for Burroughs Business Machines until he migrated to New York in 1977. Victor worked for Reuther Material Company in New Jersey from 1978 until his retirement in 2004.
During his retirement Victor was always building or mending things, he also liked to cook and was a lover of music. He would visit Barbados yearly and there he would also be building or repairing things.
Victor met Marietta in 1981 and they were married in June 1982. Although he did not have any children, he was a father figure to a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom he gave unconditional love. He was a family oriented person, a very loving and caring husband, and was always ready to make peace. He was also a no nonsense person and was meticulous about his dressing.
During his last five years on earth, he was stricken with Alzheimer’s/ Dementia, but was still able to recognize family members.
Victor went to be with The Lord on June 5th 2020. Farewell my loved one, my brother, my friend, May flights of angels wing you to heaven.
He leaves to mourn his wife Marietta Forde, and a host of relatives and friends. Special thanks to Richard Mayers and Juliet Toppin who
assisted in his care.
