Pastor Morris E. Wooten

Pastor Morris E. Wooten

10-27-1936 - 07-09-2020

Biography: A Man of God

Reverend Morris Edward Wooten entered eternal rest on Thursday,  July 9, 2020.  After suffering a long illness, he peacefully passed away at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx.  Reverend Wooten was born October 27, 1936 to the late Annabell and Roosevelt Wooten of New York City.

Before starting his own Church, The Word of God Hour Missionary Baptist, He  was a member of Thessalonia Baptist Church from his youth, under the teaching of Reverend James A. Polite.

Pastor Wooten was ordained to preach the Gospel of The Lord Jesus Christ in the winter of 1973 and he did so everywhere he went to everyone he met. He let them know  “You Must Be Born Again”. He held Bible Classes in many, many Churches and many, many homes leading people to Christ.

He was employed for some time by the New York Bible Society, the New York City public school system and United Artist T. V. Productions.

He met Linda Richardson when he was selling a Bible to her and they were later married in June 1978.  He later became Sr. Pastor of the Word of God Hour Missionary  Baptist Church.

This man was sent from God, but born and raised in the Bronx. He was called by God to bring the Light  of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to the masses. However, he had second thoughts about this Assignment and that it was perhaps a mistake. The Lord in time over ruled his emotions and he discovered that the Lord has never been guilty of making mistakes and this thought was soon eradicated.

Learning from his experience and walking with the Lord, He became totally convinced that the Word of The Lord is correct and all his works are done in truth. He became champion of the faith, committed and commissioned in the Kingdom work of the LORD.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Linda Wooten, and he leaves to cherish fond memories of him, one daughter - Kim Dukes, two granddaughters -  Jendayi and Kamilah Dukes and two great granddaughters - Zahara and Nehara, who were the apple of his heart. Two brother-in-laws , two sister-in-laws, many nieces and nephews, his Beloved Church Family Members and a host of other relatives and friends.

May He Rest In Peace and Rise in Glory.
