Biography: Dora Lee Brown, 83, of Charleston, South Carolina passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2020 peacefully at the Health Services Center at Presbyterian Village Austell, Ga (nursing home).
Dora or (Vicky), as affectionately known by all her friends, was born February 21,1937 in South Carolina to Obe and Nancy Richardson. She was one of seven brothers and sisters. In 1956, Vicky graduated from Berkeley County Training High School. After graduating High School, she took it upon herself to venture north to New York City, where she met her beloved Ronald S. Brown and they were married on December 13, 1958 for 62 years until Ronald’s passing in 2020. Within that union, they birthed two proud boys, Wayne R. Brown and Derek S. Brown.
Vicky successfully received her Associates degree from Manhattan College and continued her studies at the City College of New York where she maintained an “A” average while managing the affairs of family life. Vicky was employed as a paraprofessional within Special Education for the New York City Board of Education for 30 years until her retirement from P226M in 2002.
After retirement, Vicky enjoyed vacationing and visiting her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed spoiling all family and friends she encountered. Whenever Mama Brown came in town, she often took over with her love, generosity and time. She unselfishly gave with all of her being.
Vicky was a very devoted mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many people. Vicky is survived by sons Wayne Brown, Derek Brown and his wife Karen Brown, Grandchildren Justin, Troy, Andre, Jayson and Lauryn. reatgrandchildren Troy Brown Jr. and Aviana Brown. Fraternal twin sister Jessie Bonaparte, brother Isaac Richardson and David Wiggins, Jr., godson Irving Redden Jr. as well as a host of cousins and friends.
