Biography: James R. Robinson, beloved husband, father and brother went to be with his lord after a brief illness on May 18th, 2021.
James was born on December 28th, 1957 to the late Mildred Robinson and Paul Cooper in Mayesfield, SC. He was brought to New York City as a small child and remained until his death.
James was a jack of all trades and worked as a Window Installer and Messenger during his early years. He held a position of Security Officer for the renowned Boys Choir of Harlem and later worked at Frederick Douglas Academy until his passing. James’s legacy was left in the people he encountered every day.
He loved fishing, bike riding and listening to old school R&B music.
He is survived by his loving wife Gwendolyn Brackett; six children Broderick Roberts (Sally), Leonard Brackett, Lamont Brackett, Shante Robinson, Shatisha Robinson, and Tiffany Robinson; seven grandchildren; one sister Bonnie Adjei (Emmanuel); one uncle Christopher McCoy (Sharon); one aunt Sammie Davis; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
James is preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth Robinson, sister Jacqueline Champaign, and sister Tisha Robinson.
