Biography: Teyonnie Yvette Reese passed away on June 3, 2021 in Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital. Teyonnie was born to Yvette Lewis (Reese) on June 13, 1984. She was born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx. Teyonnie attended and graduated Urban Peace High School and later attended LaGuardia Community College where she enrolled in the Liberal Arts Deaf Studies Program.
Teyonnie was a dedicated and a loving single mother to her daughter Shaliyha, and to her son, Tionne. Her children were always her top priority in spite of her own infirmities. Teyonnie made sure they were successful in school and was always thinking of their future. She was a force to be reckoned with when it came to her kids. Teyonnie did a lot through pain and struggle, and she never once complained.
Teyonnie (“TT”) as she was called, worked very hard and was fiercely independent. She rarely asked for anything from anyone unless she really needed it. She was the “go to” person whenever anyone needed help, a listening ear, solid advice, or a hot cooked meal.
Teyonnie loved movies: Madea, Reality Television, and Music. Her favorite artist was Usher. She loved to laugh, and share the funny FB Movies with her family and friends. She made sure to keep her family loved and happy. Sadness is something she never gave off or wanted anyone to feel.
Teyonnie is preceeded in death by her Step Mom, Ardella J. Tanks; Uncle William “Bill” Reese; her Aunt, Mildred “Tiny” Reese; her Grandmother, Diane Reese; and Grandfather, Philip Joyner.
Teyonnie is survived by her Mother, Yvette Lewis (Reese); Daughter Shaliyha Best; and Son, Tionne Reese; Sisters: Jasmine and Nyla Lewis; Niece, Amaya Ross; Auntie, Nadine Holmes; Carolyn Reese, Paulette Watson, and Marcia Burgess; Uncles, Lester Lyons, Malcolm Galloway, Damien Lee, Derrick Joyner; God-Mothers, Chelita Patricia Redmond, and Donna Brown, and a host of fun loving cousins, great uncles, great aunts, extended family and friends.
