Biography:

Alice L. Pollock was born October 10, 1944, to the late Samuel H. Garland, Sr. and Lou Ella Smith Garland in Semora, NC.  On Thursday, December 23, 2021, the Lord called our beloved Alice to her eternal rest after an extended illness.
 
Alice graduated from the Caswell County Training School in North Carolina in 1963. Shortly afterwards, she relocated to Mount Vernon, NY to further her education and career options. In 1968, she received specialized training to become computer literate which led to a vibrant administrative and
managerial career at International Business Machines (IBM) located in Hempstead, New York from 1967 until her retirement in 1993.
 
Alice met and married the love of her life, John Pollock. To this union, was born their beloved son Corey who was a delight to everyone in the family far and near.  Alice loved to travel, sing, and worship the Lord with her son and husband. She also loved spending time with her extended family and her husband’s family. They made frequent road trips down south for holidays and special occasions visiting both families. Her favorite past time was playing card games, shopping, and listening to gospel music. Alice had a warm and infectious sense of humor, which always made her the life of the party everywhere she went.
 
Alice gave her life to the Lord at an early age and remained faithful to her spiritual commitment until the end of her life. She was a faithful church member, deaconess, and choir member. She was dedicated to both church and family. To her family and friends, Alice was a champion. 
 
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving son, Corey Timothy Pollock, Sisters Dorothy B. Glass, Ella Mae Corbett, Lillie Beatrice Sellars, Martha Ann Holt, and brother, Tommy Watt Garland.
 
Alice leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband John T. Pollock; three brothers Samuel Henry Garland, Jr. (Delores) of Greensboro, NC, Joe Louis Garland (Rosemarie) of Burlington, NC and Sylvester Garland of Greensboro, NC., one God-Daughter, who is also her niece Pamela Sellars Bunch, of Greensboro and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
