Tommy the beloved son of Mrs. Marie Harris Smith; and the late Mr. Izell Hooks. He was born December 17, 1954 in Lee County; Bishopville, South Carolina. Tommy attended Bishopville High School, and graduated May 1972. He was raised by his maternal grandmother Mrs. Leola Harris with lots of love and family. He was very close inseparable with Rufus; they grew up as brothers in that household. Everyone was raised as sisters and brothers. As a child he attended Mt. Zion UMC.
After, graduation he worked at MAFCO-Kendall Manufactory Plant. Tommy, journey took him to NYC, where he attained his certification as Car Mechanic. He was employed at General Motors Corporation, and Chrysler Dodge Corporation, as a mechanic. He always had a passion for cars whether driving or working on them. He also acquired his Class A-CDL License.
Buck, as he was affectionately called loved animals, fishing, and sports especially boxing as well as spending time with his family. He was the oldest of the grandchildren and he took great pride in that.
Tommy’s love for boxing led him to Madison Square Garden, where he held two titles; a Light Heavy weight Division, and 10 Middle Heavy Weight. He felt these two titles were just a few of this many accomplishments in New York City.
Left behind to cherish precious memories are his: wife, Mrs. Diann Harris, parents, Mrs. Marie (Kenneth) Smith, and a brother, Mr. Rufus Harris; children Tommy Harris Jr., Anton Reddish, and Shea Weldon; grandchildren Glory Scott, Ezekiel Scott, Riley Harris, and Rhea Weldon; along with a host of beloved family and friends too many to name.
Tommy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Mr. Offie, and Mrs. Leola Harris; son, Thomas-Toki Scott; and father, Mr. Izell Hooks.
