Biography:
Willie James Stone of Manhattan, New York passed on Saturday February 12, 2022 at Jacobi Hospital in The Bronx, New York. He was born on October 26, 1946 in Jefferson County Georgia (Wrens) to the late Mr. Sam and Luella Stone.
He was a 1965 graduate of the Historic Lucy Craft Laney high school in Augusta, Georgia. After graduation, he was drafted into the United States Marine Corps and served faithfully for many years. After leaving the military, he returned to Augusta, Georgia and became gainfully employed. He later, decided he had outgrown his home town and wanted to explore new and larger cities like Miami and eventually made New York his home for over 40 years.
His favorite motto, which he stated often during conversations was, “WORK SMART, NOT HARD”.
He was predeceased by his parents (Sam & Luella), three sisters (Louise, Margaret, Lynda) and three brothers (Sam Jr., Lige, Johnny).
He is survived by a daughter, Lashaunda D. Calhoun. Three sisters, Mildred Sneed (Thomasville, GA), Eunice Stone (Augusta, GA) Deborah A. Pollard (Hephzibah, GA) Brother in-law (Ricky Pollard); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and caring supportive neighbors.
