Biography:

David Smith was born in Harlem, New York to the proud parents of Gloria Smith and his father William Edward “Little Willie” John on June 9, 1956. He was the 1 of 8 children.
 
David attended Louis D. Brandeis High School in Manhattan, New York. Upon graduation he studied to be a Financial Consultant. The Smith family are native Harlemites with deep roots in the community since 1929.
 
David met Carolyn Mann, which resulted in their nuptials on June 29, 1980. Their marriage resulted in 4 of his 6 children.
 
David used his intelligence and skill as a businessman to create his own career path. He owned several businesses, one being called DDS Enterprises, where he installed home security systems. In addition, David would complete income tax statements on behalf of family, friends, and others.
 
Truly a man after God's own heart, David held onto his divine faith and studied the bible very often. He attended Convent Avenue Baptist Church in Harlem, New York, where his mom was also a member before her passing.
 
David enjoyed entertaining and spending time with family. His hobbies included playing sports such as basketball and tennis, playing chess, and singing in a band. He loved to cook for family and enjoyed hosting special occasions. David made sure to remember all birthdays. Above all, his greatest joys were his children; Vanessa Smith, Misty Smith, Starlette Smith, David Smith Jr, Shawntel Smith, and Giovanni Holmes. He would often proclaim their ability to further the Smith family legacy.
 
David Smith touched many lives and will forever be missed. He leaves to mourn his passing; his children: Vanessa, Misty, Starlette, David Jr, Shawntel, and Giovanni; his brothers and sisters: Susan Smith, Al Tarif, Peggy Ann Smith, Moses Smith (Deceased), Daniel Reid, Smitty, Alan Wright, and Sabrina Smith; His grandchildren: Tyrone Jr, Darryl, Shone, Tatyana, Cheyenne, Christian, and Chelsea; His great-grandson Tyrone III, along with uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
