Mrs. Blanche Adel Rogers, daughter of the late Louis and Marie Brown was born February 4, 1927, in Camden, South Carolina. She was the eldest of the three sisters. The family moved to New York in the early 1930s. She attended New York City public schools. She worked as a laundry attendant for many years. While working, Blanche was known to love all children in the neighborhood. She cared for many children who needed her.
She was united in holy matrimony to Freddie Lee Rogers on July 5, 1949. This union was blessed with one child Lee Rogers. Freddie Lee preceded her in death on March 2, 1958. A few years later Blanche met Henry Williams. Along with raising Lee, Henry and Blanche cared for her niece and nephew Sharon Denise and Maurice Williams, as their own children after her sister Kissie no longer could.
Blanche was an active member of Emanuel AME Church where she served on the usher board for many years. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, Blanche was loved by many. She departed this life Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Harlem Hospital in New York, New York. She preceded in death by her son Lee Rogers, sisters, Kissie Ann Williams, Lillie Mae Brown, and her significant other Henry Williams.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the memories of the loved ones that she left behind. She leaves behind: Great-grandson Gregory Merritt Farngalo of Stone Mountain GA., grand-daughter Aisha Merritt Swope, of Bronx, NY, Kim Wilson, Crystal Sylvester of Harlem, NY and Zuri (Eartha) Farngalo of Brooklyn, NY were blessed to call her Nanna. Maurice and Sharon Denise Williams of Harlem, NY were honored and blessed to call her mother. She also leaves behind Daughter in Law, Rosemarie Merritt Farngalo of Stone Mountain, GA., niece Aquila Sewere of VA, nephews Kenneth (Shirley) Brown of Queens, NY, Vernon Brown of Harlem , NY , Edward Brown of Harlem, NY., three great nephews; Tyrone Brown of Bronx, NY, Issah Ellis of New Jersey and Gregory Ellis of Memphis, TN and God Daughter Crystal Smith of Pittsburg of PA and host of great-great nieces and nephews.
Blanche goal was to make it to 100 years old, but God had other plans for her. I’m sure she will speak to him about that.
