Biography:
Heyward Robinson was born in Orangeburg South Carolina on December 25, 1929 and entered into Heaven on March 11, 2022.
Growing up Heyward worked on his parents farm, working the land and attending to the chickens, cows, hogs and horses alongside his sister and two brothers. Growing up he also enjoyed playing baseball and basketball and fishing during his free time.
After high school, Heyward went on to serve in the Army during the Korean War. He was very proud of the time he served and frequently shared stories of his time in the service, proudly displaying his service photo and old uniform. After he served in the Army, Heyward moved to New York where he worked for over 50 years at Queens County Hospital, primarily working as an elevator operator.
He loved to spend time in the kitchen, cooking food for his loved ones and hosting dinners where he talked about his life and interests. Heyward will be remembered as a kind and hardworking soul.
Heyward joins in heaven his father and mother, Edward Robinson and Lottie Mae Johnson Robinson; his brother, Henry Robinson; his sister, Mary Alice Baxter Robinson; and his life partner, Virginia Little Andrews.
Heyward was loved by many family members and leaves to mourn his passing: his brother, Thomas Lee Robinson and sister-in-law, Clara Robinson; his sister-in-law, Mary Ethel Robinson; his daughter, Melissa Cruz and son-in-law Jose Cruz. He also leaves behind three grandchildren: Danielle Cruz, Myriah McClellan, Breanna Cruz, and a multitude of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Even in the sadness of his passing we know that Heyward lived a good and prosperous life and will continue to watch over us all in Heaven.
