Biography:
On Thursday, April 7, 2022, God called our dear son, brother, uncle husband and friend, home to his eternal rest.
John was the fourth and last child born to the late Edward J. Wright and the late Eva E. Wright, December 31, 1942, in Norfolk County, now Portsmouth, Virginia.
He attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church with his Mother and he was educated in the Chesapeake Public Schools.
Early in life, John moved to New York and lived many years in Brooklyn, married to the late Mary Blue of North Carolina. He later lives many years in North Plainfield, New Jersey, with his dear friend, the late Devora Moss. John lived out his later years in the care of “Park Gardens Rehabilitation and Nursing Home” in the Bronx, New York.
He was the sibling of the late Ret. Sgt. Edward Wright, Jr. of Arizona, the late Jean Gill Edwards of Virginia and the late Ruby W. Deans of New York.
John leaves to cherish, one sister in-law (Eardean), many nieces, two nephews, grand nieces and nephews, many dear friends and his family care-giver, Carol Deans Hill of New York. John will be remembered for his outgoing charisma, his singer’s voice and that he always had style.
