Edward Howard Hargrove, 64, of New York City (Harlem, NY), passed away on June 27, 2022.
Edward was born on July 7, 1957 to Rosa Lee Hargrove a single mother in New York City.
Edward graduated from Charles Evans Hughes High School and continued his studies of art at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Ed started his working career when he was only nine years old. He always kept busy; never really sitting still. During the course of Ed’s life, he held several jobs. Eventually, Ed would faithfully work for UPS from 1989 until his retirement in 2014. And, he also worked for Jacob Javitz’s Convention Center from 1997 until his untimely passing. Ed was well liked by his peers and co-workers at both locations and he will be greatly missed.
Ed was a true family man and was a dedicated, proud father to all of his children which include: a son, Roshand Hargrove, from a previous marriage; a daughter, Danniesha Patterson, from a previous relationship. Ed would meet and form a lasting relationship with his current wonderful partner, Joyce Brown, whom he shared three children with; a daughter, Azure Hargrove; a son, Zamir Hargrove, and the youngest, Nyasia Hargrove. From this union, Ed became stepfather to Ciara Mendez and Terrance (TJ) Myers. Ed and Joyce were together for over 25 years, raising a blended family with love and support. Ed was also a loving grandfather to his granddaughter, Analise Raquel Hargrove, (Roshand’s daughter); step grandchildren; grandson Terrance Myers Jr., granddaughter Tahjae Myers, grandson Tyhair Myers, and granddaughter Teagan Myers (Terrance Sr.’s children). Ed loved and adored on all of his grandchildren.
Ed was an avid martial artist. He studied Taekwondo, Jujitsu, and karate for many years, earning different pinnacles of the art. Ed admired Bruce Lee so much, he often thought he was; on Saturday mornings, Ed would encourage his two younger brothers and baby sister to the terrace to practice martial arts, faithfully. Ed made sure whatever he was involved in, he was willing to teach and share with his loved ones. Ed also had a fond love of the arts from drawing to his love of jazz music; over the years, he also created great pieces of art work. During his younger years he fell in love with music also; jazz being his first love. He also played the saxophone in his music band for a time and continued to play over the years on his own as well. Ed loved nature and would sit and watch anything related to nature on TV.. Ed was a true believer in God and was also a deeply spiritual person as well.
Ed was predeceased by his mother Rosa Lee Hargrove, his brothers’ William (Billy) Hargrove, Jerome Hargrove. He is survived by his brothers’ Earl Hargrove and Randolph (Randy) Hargrove; and his only, sister Rosetta (Cookie) Hargrove-Jordan. Ed was a loving uncle to nephew’s Quincy Hargrove, William Hargrove,(father William “Billy”) Shawn Hargrove, Christopher Burrison (father Randy), Josue Jordan, Richard Howard Jordan, one niece Brittany Rose Jordan (mother Rosetta Hargrove-Jordan). Ed predeceased by nephew Tyrell Crowell (William “Billy”) Ed is also predeceased by two aunts: Jennie, Evergreen, four uncles Daniel, Freeman, O’Dell, and Willie Blackwood; he’s survived by one uncle, William ‘Jack’ Hargrove, and a host of cousins including a few dear cousins he maintained a close bond with; Nancy Gaines, Trina, Sonia & Skyler Spivey.
