Amos Darryl Brown was born to Robbie Joe Dancer Brown and Amos Lee Brown in Birmingham, Alabama. He had one sister, Sara Denise Brown and stepsiblings from his late father: Mary, Rowena, Tony and Jannelle. His mother Robbie brought her children to New York when they were six and seven years old. Amos attended grade school at P.S. 90. It was there that he received the nickname “Moose”; but to family, he was Darryl and affectionately called Di by his sister Sara (Denise).Amos graduated from Louis D. Brandeis High School. Shortly afterwards, he worked at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. He was a shop steward with the 1199 union.
Amos loved watching his teams: the Yankees, Giants, Jets and Knicks. He also enjoyed going to the movies and Broadway plays. Amos was passionate about life. He was kind, faithful, humble and he loved Jesus. He was a beloved son, brother and friend.
Amos was a member of Union Baptist Church where he sang in the choir.Amos will be kept in our hearts, souls and minds forever. He will be deeply missed. He leaves to cherish his memories: sister, Denise; stepfather, William Little; aunt, Dorothy Perry; cousins: Counce, Caroline, Gloria, Shaymane and a host of other relatives to numerous to name. May God rest his soul. Amen
