Florence Gwendolyn Hill, affectionately known as “Gwen” was born on November 17, 1967 at Harlem Hospital to proud parents, the late JoAnn and Ernest Hill. On Monday, October 17, 2022 Gwen departed this earthly life and went to her eternal home to be with her loved ones.
Gwen was a lovable person at heart, that would spread joy and happiness wherever she went; she was compassionate and always brought a smile to everyone’s face. She was a woman of love who loved her family and friends dearly. She will truly be missed.
Gwen was educated in the New York public school system. She graduated from The High School of Graphic Communication Arts, where she loved to play softball. She also enjoyed playing Skullies in the streets with the fellas. Gwen was raised in Harlem where she met her late husband Henry J. Irvin.Gwen worked various jobs. She worked as a certified nursing assistant at Split Rock Nursing Home. She also worked for the City of New York Parks and Recreation for many years. She enjoyed painting. Gwen was a “peoples person” which led her to bartend at many of the Reggae clubs. She loved to dance, party, and have a good time. Her lifestyle was the epitome of “I’m living my best life!”
Florence Gwendolyn Hill was preceded in death by her husband Henry J. Irvin, her mother and father JoAnn & Ernest Hill, her first born son Karyin Hill and her aunt Yvonne Thomas.
Florence Gwendolyn Hill leaves to cherish her memories are her six children Tyesha Hill, Julius Hill, Kevin Hill, Tamika Hill, Taniqua (Loris) Elmore and Daquana Hill; Five grandchildren, Ja’siah, Ja’niah, Lauryn, Zamiyra and Loris(LJ); A special companion Stephen White; Two brothers Randall and Deon (Melissa) Hill;A special aunt Marie Thomas; First cousin Shawn Thomas; A Best Friend/sister Hope Brown; A host of nieces, nephews,cousins and god children. Gwen, all your family and friends from 127/128St will miss you dearly.
