Biography:

Gerard “Jerry” Miller, the son of William and Rena Miller was born on November 7, 1949 in New York City. Gerard was educated in the public schools of New York City and Georgetown, South Carolina. Loving the south, he attended Johnson C Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina and later served in the Air Force.
 
Jerry was an advocate of service minded initiatives. He volunteered on voter registration, meals for the needy and served with the feed the hungry program.
 
Jerry enjoyed playing baseball and viewing all types of sports on television he was a big fan of New York sports and could cite scores wins and names, but not losses. Jerry's greatest love was family. He enjoyed being with family members. Every summer was spent in Edisto Island with family members making memories and creating bonds that continued throughout his life.
Gerard and Odelia, affectionately known as “Dee” were united in marriage. It is this union that Jerry so admired. After Dee's passing, Jerry continued to live together and share his household with Edwin, Edwin Jr, Kizzy, and Quayvon in New York and at times traveling to the South. Jerry had a strong spiritual belief that began at a young age in Randall Memorial Presbyterian Church and continued until his passing. Early in his communication with Butch and Sandra, Jerry asked Sandra did she know the “Lord is

My Shepherd”. Sandra asked Jerry are you referring to the 23rd Psalm and she started to recite it, too which Jerry joined and they continued in unison.  Every day afterward they recited Psalm 23 with Jerry leading the Psalms and stating “Sandy, See I remember this from my Sunday school days at Randall Memorial. During these conversations Jerry often described the picture Aunt Dorothy sent to where he stands as young, proud and strong member of the Sunday school class.
 
Gerard was preceded in death by his father, mother, brothers- William Lawrence and Clifton (Cliff). He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted brother Henrich V Miller nicknamed “Butch” (Sandra), Aunt Dorothy Washington, 3 nieces- Hattie James, Catherine Wilson, and Kristen Miller, a nephew- Vincent Miller (Amy), Edwin, Kizzy, Edwin Jr., Quayvon, several cousins, friends and acquaintances.
