Ray Raimundi

Ray Raimundi

06-11-1960 - 02-23-2023

Biography: Raymond Raimundi’s life shined into the world in the Borough of the Bronx, in New York City, to the proud of parents of Maude and Eduardo Raimundi on June 11, 1960. Raymond was the third of four children. His eldest brother

Edward II and his sister Madelene have passed and already been called home before him.

Raymond attended elementary school at Public School 63 in the Bronx and then went to Junior High School 145 in the South Bronx. It was at Junior High School 145 where he met the mother of his children, Dora Aviles. Raymond graduated from Evander Child’s High School and then settled with his family in the Norwood section of the Bronx on East Gun Hill Road.

A true taskmaster, Raymond held several jobs. In his early years, he worked as an accountant and even drove taxis to support his family. In 1982, Raymond secured his first job at Montefiore Medical Center, working in the Central Supply Department before he went to Pharmacy School. He was promoted to a Pharmacy Technician at Montefiore Medical Center where he served for more than a decade. In 1994, Raymond decided to further his education at Bronx Community College where he successfully completed the Radiology Technologist program and obtained his degree with honors.

Raymond was an active, vibrant, gregarious man who enjoyed the outdoors, the beach, sports, current events, exercising, community outreach, motorcycle riding — and most of all — spending time with his immediate and extended family along with the vast number of friendships he had across New York City and America. Ray’s dedication to tirelessly help others through their most difficult times and show compassionate support for all the celebrations he could attend was limitless. Without hesitation — Ray would move mountains to be there! In 2016, Raymond was honored with the Healthcare Recognition Award by the Williamsbridge Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Ray will be missed and mourned by so many. The family he leaves behind includes: his sisters Elizabeth and Lidia; his children Karima, Ray Jr., bonus daughter Kasai; his grandchildren Nisaa and Bryce; his son-in-law Corey; brother-in-law Julio; nieces and nephews Maurice, Jessica, Eddie III, Jaime, Mia, Zion, Madonna; closest cousins, Anulfo, Jesus II, Anthony with tons of other relatives and friends that will always be remembered as family.

Lovingly Submitted,
