Biography: On April 25, 2023 Wesley “Wes” Kenneth Borum peacefully passed away at Mount Sinai Hospital. Wesley was born to the late Sarah Francis Herbert and Governor Frank Borum in Brooklyn, NY. Wesleywas the third of four children to Sarah Francis Herbert, his siblings include Alvina Nancy Huntley, Waletta Lavern Turner, and Daniel Charles Borum. Wesley completed his schooling in New York City and later began his career at Metropolitan Transit Authority (also known as MTA) as a bus operator. Wesley’s achievements at MTA lead to almost 3 decades of service before becoming a retiree.
Wesley's passions included his love for numbers and math, his taste in music; favoring jazz, blues and R&B, and his love of sports. Wesley, while being a proud and doting grandfather to his only grandchild Michaela, loved to take her around the city and take photos and videos.
Wesley moved from Brooklyn to Harlem in the late 90s and made many friends, acquaintances, and connections right here in Harlem. Wesley donated to charities like Boys Town and spent time at the local kitchens and pantries in Harlem. Those that knew “Wes” got to know his caring, vibrant, and humorous personality and may have even experienced Wesley’s ability to make the “serious” joke.
Wesley leaves behind in mourning his daughter Leslie Borum and Shadia Borum, his sons Bevis Webber, Kenyatte Borum, his brother Daniel Charles Borum, his granddaughter Michaela Phillip. The following nieces and nephews are Danielle Noni Borum, Cherly, Christine, Patricia, Rhonda, Regina, Michael, Anthony, Tyrone, and Maurice. Also leaves behind Eva Webber, dear friend and mother of Leslie and Bevis. His Harlem community at and around Riverbend and many many more. With God's grace we ask that Wesley be reunited with his parents, Sarah Herbert and Governor Borum, late sisters Alvina and Waletta, and his nephew Vincient at the gates of heaven.
Funeral services will be held at Owens Funeral Home located on 216 Malcom X Blvd New York, NY 10027; on May 11th, 2023. The viewing will be from 4pm-6pm with the funeral service proceeding.
With God's grace we ask that Wesley be reunited with his mother Sarah Herbert and late sisters Alvina and Waletta, and his nephew Vincient at the gates of heaven.
