Obituary
George Ross, affectionately known to all as “Butter” was born on February 23,1936 in Sumpter, South Carolina to the late Sam Ross and Susan Brailsford. He was the youngest of the 5 children born to Sam and “Miss Sue”. His 3 brothers Stanyarne, Hampton, Bubba and one sister Lucinda, all proceeded him in death.
Although “Butter” was born in the south, he spent all his adult life in New York City. He came here and fell in love with Delores Wynn and out of this union, three sons were born: George Anthony (who preceded him in death), Kevin Alexander and Jeffrey Wayne. Years later, he married Sarah and from that union, his daughter Sonya was born.
Butter” worked for Pepsi Cola for 25 years. Although this was his occupation by trade, he was a very skillful card player. He would play cards almost every weekend with his brothers, nieces, and nephews. “Butter” did not play about that game of “Piddy Pat”. The Rosses were an extremely close-knit family, and he loved his family tremendously.
George” Butter” may be absent from the body; however, his spirit will live forever! He leaves to cherish his many memories: His wife Sarah, his loving, devoted, and caring sons, Kevin and Jeffrey, his daughter Sonya. Seven grandchildren: Antoinette, Jeffrey Wayne, Jeffrey Richard, Troy, Marquis, Rayna and Soraya. His sister Bertha Ross, His sisters-in-law Geneva Williams and Eva Ross. His niece Bertha (R.C.) who was his buddy, along with a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and an entire village of lifelong friends!
