Fannie Lee Brown McCoy, nicknamed Peaches, was born on Sunday May 22, 1927, in Jefferson County, Arkansas, to parents Lee Brown and Eller Carter Brown. She was raised on a farm in the years following the Harlem Renaissance and preceding the Great Depression. She graduated from High School and enrolled A&M College and decades later attended Mercy College in New York.
While working at New York’s Charles Pfizer Corporation, Fannie met and married Samuel McCoy Jr, a career serviceman in the US Marine Corps and the US Army. She spent her life working in the medical field as a nursing assistant, dietician, as well as union organizer and president for 1199 and DC 37 Unions.
A mother to all, she was always able to overcome life many challenges.
Fannie has had many accomplishments and success. Always providing knowledge and wisdom to those she loved and knew. She truly had a heart of gold and was always willing to help everyone who needed it. She will be greatly missed.
She preceded in death by: Parents Lee and Eller Carter Brown, Husband Samuel McCoy Jr., Daughter Duline McCoy Campbell, Great-Grandson Jeremiah McCoy, Brothers James Brown, Sammie Brown, and Dolford Brown, Son-in-law Ronald Barnes Sr., Daughter-in-law Brenda Burgess McCoy.
Her survivors include: Sister Ella Mae Brown Demmings, Daughter Dominica McCoy, Son Dennis McCoy, Son Dietrich McCoy, Son Delbert McCoy, Son Diernessieo McCoy, And a host of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces, Great Nephews, family, friends, and colleagues.
