Biography: Obituary Ruth Johnson Mitchell, 85 years of age slipped into eternal peace and rest on Tuesday February 6, 2024 at the Allen Presbyterian Hos- pital. She was born October 13, 1938 to the late James A. Johnson and Nannie P. Johnson Allen in Dinwiddie Virginia. She attended Bronx Community College to achieve her High School Equivalency Diploma. She got married and moved from Virginia to New York in 1957 as a teenager and made this her home. She worked at Bronx Children Psychiatric Center for 25 years as a Mental Hygiene Therapy Aide, and retired from there in 1995.
At an early age she confessed Christ as her savior and joined Mt. Level Baptist Church in Dinwiddie Va. She enjoyed Sunday School and fellowship with church friends. She later joined Foun- tain Spring Baptist Church in New York. She enjoyed shopping, cooking and traveling. She loved her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie B. Mitchell Sr., two sons; Lee A. Mitchell and Willie B. Mitchell, Jr.; two sisters, Martha Hobbs and Indiana J. Powell. Six brothers; Curtiss Johnson, George, Ned Edward, Oliver, Dennis and Percy.
She leaves to cherish her dear and precious memories one daughter, Ella Mitchell of New York. Five sisters; Fannie B. Neil of Hyattsville Maryland, Doris Joncs and twin sister Noami Johnson of Petersburg Va., Marion Johnson of Dinwiddie Va., and Laura Johnson of Bronx New York. Three granddaughters; Tiffany Mitchell, Tanica Boone, Sheane Boone, one grandson, Michad Mitchell. Four great- granddaughters, Jade, Zakiya, Chanel, Ailani, one great-grandson, Jakai. Two devoted friends: Dorothy Wyatt in Virginia and Lillie Stroman in New York., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and
other relatives and friends.
